Traveling Leaves

Duane Anderson

First and foremost,
I wanted to thank a few of my neighbors
for all the leaves in my yard

after spending hours raking them,
then mowing up the stragglers
to get them all up

so others wouldn’t have to worry about
the thousands of leaves traveling
from my yard into theirs,

but some did not seem to care,
and let the wind do its duty,
taking them from their yard into mine.

Once again, I thank you.
May the wind reverse course,
and return the favor.
